Walkabout 2002 – Dentistry, time frames, and finances

You Want Me To Do What?!!?

Well it seems that fixing my tooth is not meant to be. The dentist says that the best he can do in a short time frame is to build the tooth back up in preparation for a crown. That would cost $175.00 and is only a temporary fix. If I want to fix it permanently, that would take $750 and three weeks of visits to put a crown on it. I can’t spend 3 weeks here and I don’t have $750 so that’s out of the question. Given that it doesn’t hurt and I don’t eat on that side very much because of the missing molar there already, I think I’m just going to ignore it until later.

(Update 2013 – It’s ironic that I didn’t notice at the time that the meaning of a broken tooth in a dream is a lack of self-care.  I wasn’t doing very well interpreting the waking dream for this one. )

I may be able to spend three weeks in Bloomington, IN when I get back there and if I put all the money I make on temp jobs towards it, I MAY be able to afford the crown. So, it’s ignore it for now and see what happens later.

That’s not good really because I had been hoping that the money I could make at a temp job would cover my expenses for the walkabout through the winter. Sigh. Ah well. It will all be OK. It has been thus far, so I have no reason to believe that it will not continue to be so. Right?
