Walkabout 2002 – Elephant in the Room

I made it safe and sound back to Maine and I’m staying at Daniel’s. After a brief moment of discomfort over the big white elephant in the living room, Lorelei and I talked about it and I think we’re going to be OK for the duration of my stay. We each expressed ourselves and now we’re just moving on and ignoring it unless it shows up.

Now Daniel, that’s another story. It’s been strange for me putting the face back together with the person I’ve gotten to know so well over the phone. It took me a few hours to really integrate last night. It threw my shields up as I felt unbalanced and disoriented, which was not the way I wanted to be when I saw him, but that’s how it went. We finally got past it and things are settling in now. Not quite the way they were when I left because much has changed since then, but we are finding where we fit now with the new format of things and the new understanding of each other. It’s looking good. It’s looking really good.

And that scares the hell out of me.
