Walkabout 2002 – Welcome to the Holidays

Welcome to the holiday season. Leave your coat off – you’re running too fast to need it. Being on a journey during the holidays can be quite hectic – that’s where planning comes in. I’m really glad we’re getting away for the few days in Maine. I think it will make all the difference to have some quiet time.

I’m heading out to Bloomington tonight assuming this freezing rain abates. It’s right mucky out there at present. Should be about a three-hour drive, so that’s not too bad.

We’ve not set any agenda for the time in Bloomington, but given the amount of work done the last time I was in town, I am prepared to hit the ground running if needed.

Daniel (Lowell) sent me some cookies and they were delivered to the wrong house yesterday. I’ve got check the porch to see if they left them there for us this morning after the note I left about them on their door.

I’ve mostly confirmed with Jamie that I’ll be at his place in Akron on the 18th, which means a long drive for the last leg, but I wanted to get in to see him (and hopefully Jessie’s friend in Detroit) before I finish up this journey. I’ll be emailing Jessie’s friend today to find out availability for the 17th there.

Making plans for the holidays. Daniel and I have a busy social calendar for the time I’m in town. Party at his place Friday, party at Gumby’s and Drum and Dance on Saturday, dinner with Ludwig on Sunday?, Daniel’s birthday on Monday, Tuesday we leave for Lud’s cabin in Maine for three days, and then when we get back, we’re arranging a dinner with Ken and Tra, and then there’s New Year’s. Plus, Lorelei’s birthday is on the 29th.

I have agreed to puppy-sit for Bill and Amy in MD for 1/02-1/12, so I’ll be heading out of town then too. Busy busy busy. Plus, in there, I have other people to visit and research to do with regards to jobs so that I can hopefully hit the ground running when I return. Whew. I’m tired just thinking about it.

For those of you who didn’t see the update on the time factor for Gumby’s party, we’ll be arriving about 2pm and heading out around 5:30 or so. So that’s when you’ll find us if you want to visit. And, being that I am network girl, I will be bringing one, possibly two friends along from this new group to introduce around.

Long update, but it covers the next few weeks, so the rest should be shorter in the future (assuming I remember that I already told you – which I am not very good at). That’s it! See you folks in the MA area shortly! Just over a week now.
