Walkabout 2002 – Banner Day

Wow, multiple posts from multiple people, some of whom I don’t ever hear from. Is it possible that everyone is feeling that need for connection that I wrote about yesterday? I found some of mine.

I spent a lovely evening with Daniel talking and snuggling. We have a lot in common (as I knew from reading his website originally). We played some music for each other and I got to see the progress he’s made on the house (substantial) in unpacking and renovations. I showed up quite stressed (I was running late) and ended up quite relaxed. It’s amazing how much a little physical contact with someone who’s calm can do for you.

Good news! I went through the mail I picked up from Ann’s house and I found a letter saying that my bankruptcy has been discharged! Wooo hooo! They granted my petition! Yay! I’m done with that – finally!

I think I have an invitation to the community Turkey-Day in Cincinnati, OH. I’ll have to check in again with Holly and make sure, but it looks good. That means I should have a two-day drive to Steamboat Springs which will put me there right in time for check-in. Ludwig dug through the closets at his house (which he inherited from his grandparents and which still contains much family cruft) and came up with a ski jacket that fits me perfectly as well as some pants, a sweater and the extra bag I’ve been hoping for. He also gave me a new -to-me laptop bag. So I’m ready for the laptop to show up any time now. He also stocked my car with lots of dry and canned goods so that he wouldn’t have to worry about me starving (which evidently he does worry about). Very cool I’m glad I left some stuff at Peter’s though or I wouldn’t have anyplace to put this stuff. As it is, I can barely see out the back window.

I’m checking in with people about this week and places to stay. I’m also going to check in with Jamie in Akron and with my other friend about coming there on the way to Cincinatti. I’ll let you know my plans when I know them.

Odd occurence. As I was signing off, a blue bird that looked like cardinal only blue (I’m not good with birds) thuncked into the window behind me so hard that he left some down attached to the window pane. He waited in the tree outside the window long enough for me to notice him, then flew off. Anyone know the shamanic meaning of this type of bird?  Hmmm.  (Update 2013 – Yes, oddly, it never occurred to me to Google it.)
