Walkabout 2002 – Going to Florida

I haven’t heard back about going to New Orleans, but I am definitely going to Florida. I’m leaving tomorrow for St. Augustine, FL to visit Chris (friend from SPiRaL). I’ll probably run a toning workshop for friends his as well as teaching him some more advanced techniques. It was so cute, he said he was “honored” to have me come to visit.

Funny, you teach one workshop at an event (and get invited to help plan ritual, etc.) and the newbies suddenly see you as an elder. Very bizarre for the girl who was the newbie four years ago. Don’t worry, I’ll disabuse him of the notion when I get there. Perhaps a peek at my journal would do much to bring me back off the pedestal.

Anyway, I’m leaving first thing in the morning and I’ve been informed that Tuesday we’ll be heading to Jacksonville for a concert of some type. Also, he’s got several friends who want to meet me. So it seems my social dry spell is over. Yay!!! That will be a relief. I need to get out more. The TV sucks your brain dry. Evil thing. Anesthesia for the brain. Enough said.

Anyway, I didn’t get a chance to ask Chris if he has email access, so I don’t know if I’ll be online a lot or not in the next week or so. So, don’t panic if you don’t hear from me. If you get worried, I have a cell phone with 550 minutes (yes I reduced it from 900 since I only used about 375 last month).

This trip will put me over either the 7000 or 8000 mile mark (I can’t remember which) for total miles traveled this trip. That’s further than across the country and back. Lots of driving. I’m getting really good at it though. I can go much further before needing a break. Although Ruby still needs gas at regular intervals. The weirdest thing is happening in my back seat. I’ve been really stressed about having so much stuff in the passenger area with me, both for security reasons (although not much on this one) and just because it makes me a little claustrophobic. Well, I don’t know if I am packing better, losing stuff (which I haven’t noticed), or it’s just shrinking, but it feels like there’s a lot more space back there these days. Weird.

Oh, BTW, for those of you who were cleanup crew at SPiRaL and saw me take the spray bottle that was being thrown out, I found out why I needed it. Melissa was supposed to spray down her grout for a few hours to help it cure and all of her spray bottles didn’t work. I gave her the one I saved from the trash. One more thing out of the car! Oh yeah, I gave her one of my towels too since the guy who did the grout used her brother’s towel to clean up the chemicals. Yeah! Another thing out of the car.

Well, I’m off to put down Melissa’s floor in the bathroom. Wish me luck!
