Sit With The Scary

What are you running from in your life?  What is that thing that when it crosses your mind, it runs right back out again – evicted as quickly as possible from your consciousness so that you don’t have to think about it?  What do you avoid dealing with?

The gift of the things that scare you, is that they hold the secrets to what limits you.  These are the built-in doorways to your next stage of enlightenment.  You just have to have the courage to open them.

So here is your assignment (should you choose to accept it) for the day.  Sit with one thing that scares you today.  Give yourself a time frame – say 7 minutes – during which you will definitely think about that issue.  If you get off topic in your thoughts, start over.  Think about it until your 7 minutes are up.  And then take 7 minutes every day to think about it and sit with your feelings about it until you stop running from it – until the charge associated with it is gone.

Then pick another issue and start on that one.  In doing this, you’ll remove the blocks that hold you in place, you’ll open up your world to new options and you’ll develop the courage you need to deal with deeper and deeper issues along the path.  It is a gift that keeps on giving.  Enjoy!
