Asking For Help

For those of you who don’t know, I play Cityville on Facebook.  It’s my way of turning off my brain for a while.  But for the last few days I’ve been stymied.  One of the goals I need to achieve is to click on 10 of my neighbor’s hearts.  The problem is that unless my neighbor puts a heart on a particular item asking for help with it, then there is nothing I can do about it.  I can’t reach my goal of helping them with what they want the most.

Isn’t That Just Like Life?
How many times do we not ask our friends for help?  I think about all of the people I know – most of whom are just waiting for a chance to help me out.  And I think about all the help I’d love to offer, if only someone would give me permission to do so.  When we don’t ask for help, we limit more lives than just our own.  All those people around us who see we struggling are being kept at arm’s reach because we won’t ask.

Angels Must Be Asked
Did you know that even angels are limited by our ability to ask?  It’s true.  Angels are forbidden to step in to help unless they are specifically asked – out loud – for help with a particular issue.  And just saying “you have carte blanche permission to help with whatever you see that needs helping”, is not sufficient – trust me, I tried.

You Have To Ask
The moral of this story is that we need to ask for help – even when we think we’re not worthy, even when we’re scared they will say “no”, even when we don’t want to look incompetent.

People are just waiting to help.
Please, take off their shackles so that you can receive everything you need.
